Nidek LM-7 Auto Lensmeter — Used Automated Lensmeter

Nidek LM-7 auto lensmeter used — front view with operator's manual, dust cover and power cord The Nidek LM-7 auto lensmeter is a compact, vertically designed automated lensmeter built to speed up daily lens verification in any optical dispensary or pre-testing lane. At the heart of this used Nidek LM-7 auto lensmeter is a Hartmann sensor that reads 108 measurement points simultaneously inside the nosepiece, capturing sphere, cylinder, axis, ADD, and prism in a single quick step with strong repeatability. Placing a lens on the stage triggers automatic lens-type detection, so the instrument switches to the correct single-vision, bifocal, or progressive mode on its own.

Results appear on a vertical 5.7-inch color LCD touchscreen with an uncluttered layout, and the unit reads spectacle lenses across a sphere range of -25 to +25 D and a cylinder range of 0 to ±10 D. UV transmittance is displayed from 0 to 100% at a central wavelength of 365 nm, and the built-in scale mode measures monocular and binocular PD by aligning marked glasses to the on-screen scale. Data moves out through one RS-232C port and two USB ports for connection to an edger, refraction system, or EMR.

Independent testing supports the role of automated focimeters in reliable lens power verification — the National Library of Medicine reports on the accuracy of automated focimeters for measuring spectacle lens power.

Why Practices Choose the Nidek LM-7

Nidek LM-7 auto lensmeter used — 5.7-inch color LCD touchscreen measurement display

  • 108-point Hartmann sensor — simultaneous multi-point measurement for fast, repeatable sphere, cylinder, axis, ADD, and prism readings.
  • Automatic lens-type detection — the instrument identifies single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses and switches modes without operator input.
  • Vertical 5.7-inch color touchscreen — a space-saving footprint with a clear, tap-driven interface.
  • UV transmittance measurement — reports UV-A (365 nm) transmittance from 0 to 100% for lens quality checks.
  • Scale-mode PD measurement — monocular and binocular pupillary distance read directly on screen.
  • Flexible data output — one RS-232C and two USB ports connect the LM-7 to edgers, refraction systems, and record software.

Clinical Applications

  • Verifying incoming spectacle prescriptions before dispensing.
  • Neutralizing single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses quickly.
  • Confirming prism and axis on remakes and warranty claims.
  • Checking UV transmittance and lens quality at intake.
  • Measuring monocular and binocular PD from finished eyewear.

Who This Is For

  • Optical dispensaries and retail optical shops handling high lens volume.
  • Optometry and ophthalmology practices running an in-house pre-testing lane.
  • Lens finishing labs that need reliable neutralization before edging.
  • Mobile and satellite clinics needing a compact, all-in-one lensmeter.
