BM 900 Slit Lamp — Used Haag Streit System with LED Upgrade

This bm 900 slit lamp uses a 2-step magnification changer (10× and 16× standard, with optional 25× and 40× eyepieces available separately), a continuous slit width 0–8 mm, and a 13° stereo angle convergent microscope. The LED upgrade delivers up to 600,000 Lux of illumination — currently the brightest in any production slit lamp — and eliminates the bulb replacement cycle that interrupts workflow on halogen units.
Per a recent National Library of Medicine-indexed study (Indian J Ophthalmol, 2025), slit-lamp-mounted Goldmann applanation tonometers like the AT 900 remain the clinical reference standard for IOP measurement, with concordance superior to handheld and rebound alternatives.
Why Practices Choose the BM 900 LED System
LED illumination, 600,000 Lux — color-stable white light with no warm-up time, no bulb replacements, and ~30,000-hour service life vs. roughly 100 hours on legacy halogen.
- Parallel optics + 13° stereo angle — the optical signature Haag Streit is known for. Long depth of field, high light transmission, and a fatigue-free view across a full exam day.
- Goldmann AT 900 tonometer integrated — the original applanation reference, mounted on the slit lamp arm for single-instrument IOP at 10× magnification.
- 2-step magnification (10×/16×) — the exam-room standard for routine anterior segment work; optional 25×/40× eyepieces drop in if you need detail magnification.
- Built to last decades — known in the field as the “indestructible” slit lamp. Mechanical simplicity means parts availability and service economics that no plastic-shrouded competitor can match.
- Filter set included — cobalt blue, red-free (green), and 10% grey filters in the rotating filter wheel for fluorescein, hemorrhage detection, and bright-eye comfort.
- Universal Haag Streit footprint — fits any standard Haag Streit instrument table and works with all BQ/BP/BM/BD-series accessories you may already own.
Clinical Applications
- Routine anterior segment exams — cornea, conjunctiva, lens, anterior chamber
- Goldmann applanation tonometry for glaucoma screening and follow-up
- Contact lens fitting and corneal staining assessment with cobalt blue + fluorescein
- Pre- and post-operative cataract and refractive surgery evaluation
- Foreign-body localization and removal under high-contrast LED illumination
- Dry eye assessment with red-free filter and high-magnification eyepieces (with optional 25×/40×)
Who This Is For
- Optometry and ophthalmology practices replacing an aging halogen slit lamp without compromising on optics
- Practices that want to standardize on the Haag Streit ecosystem (AT 900, BQ/BP/BD accessories, fundus modules) but at a used price point
- Clinics in high-throughput environments where halogen bulb downtime is a real workflow cost
- Group practices needing a second exam-lane slit lamp that matches the optical quality of an existing BQ 900
