Heine Omega 500 LED Wireless BIO — Used Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscope
The Heine Omega 500 LED is a wireless binocular indirect ophthalmoscope built for stereoscopic peripheral fundus examination. Heine’s synchronized adjustment of convergence and parallax lets the examiner align the illumination and observation paths with a single control, so the Heine Omega 500 keeps a stereoscopic view through dilated pupils and small pupils down to 1.0 mm. The rechargeable battery rides on the back of the headband, so there is no cable to a wall transformer or belt pack while you move around the exam chair.
The optics are mounted on an aluminum frame that Heine specifies as dustproof, and the multi-coated illumination system with exact vertical alignment of the light and observation path helps reduce reflections. Cobalt blue, red-free and yellow filters are built in. A study indexed by the National Library of Medicine compared patient comfort with red-free versus yellow light during binocular indirect ophthalmoscope retinal examination.
Why Practices Choose the Heine Omega 500 LED Wireless BIO

- Synchronized convergence and parallax — one adjustment aligns illumination and observation for stereoscopic views through any pupil size
- Small-pupil capability — optics can be set for pupils down to 1.0 mm
- LED illumination — Heine LED HQ light with a color temperature of about 4,000 K and no bulb changes
- Cable-free headset — battery mounted on the headband, so nothing trails to a belt pack or wall outlet during the exam
- Dustproof optical block — optics mounted on an aluminum frame for long-term alignment
- Built-in filters and apertures — cobalt blue, red-free and yellow filters plus 4 aperture settings
