Condition & Warranty
Used. This Zeiss Atlas 9000 has been tested, cleaned and is in excellent working order, ready to use once received. It shows some signs of usage, and the rear plastic cover behind the chin rest is missing. Covered by a 90-day warranty on parts and workmanship.
Zeiss Atlas 9000 Corneal Topographer — Used Placido Disc System with Windows XP
The Zeiss Atlas 9000 corneal topographer is Carl Zeiss Meditec’s Placido disc topography system. It projects a 22-ring Placido target onto the cornea and converts the reflected ring image into color-coded curvature and elevation maps. This used Zeiss Atlas 9000 corneal topographer runs its software on Windows XP inside an all-in-one housing with a built-in display, so it works as a compact standalone topography station.
Zeiss pairs the Placido target with its patented Cone-of-Focus alignment system, designed to reduce focusing error during capture. On screen, the Atlas 9000 shows axial curvature, tangential curvature and elevation maps alongside the ring image, giving contact lens fitters, refractive screeners and anterior segment clinicians a fast read on corneal shape.
A review in National Library of Medicine (Diagnostics, 2022) describes corneal topography as a core tool for detecting and characterizing corneal ectatic diseases such as keratoconus, a main clinical use of the Zeiss Atlas 9000.
Why Practices Choose the Zeiss Atlas 9000

- 22-ring Placido disc — dense ring coverage maps central and mid-peripheral corneal curvature in a single capture
- Cone-of-Focus alignment — Zeiss’s patented alignment system is designed to minimize focusing error for repeatable elevation data
- Multi-map display — axial curvature, tangential curvature and elevation maps viewed together with the captured ring image
- Keratoconus screening support — tangential and elevation maps highlight the localized steepening typical of early ectasia
- Contact lens and ortho-k fitting — curvature and elevation data guide rigid gas-permeable and orthokeratology lens selection
- All-in-one design — integrated display, joystick and chin rest in one compact housing; this unit includes a keyboard

Clinical Applications
- Refractive surgery screening — identify irregular or asymmetric topography before LASIK or PRK referral
- Keratoconus detection and follow-up — compare sequential maps to document changes in corneal shape over time
- Contact lens fitting — rigid gas-permeable, orthokeratology and specialty lens fits on regular and irregular corneas
- Post-surgical evaluation — assess corneal shape after refractive surgery or corneal transplant
- Astigmatism assessment — map the magnitude and orientation of corneal astigmatism before cataract or toric planning
Who This Is For
- Contact lens specialty practices fitting rigid gas-permeable, ortho-k and post-surgical corneas
- Optometry and ophthalmology offices adding corneal topography to an existing diagnostic workup
- Refractive surgery co-management practices screening candidates before referral
- Practices on a budget that want a Zeiss topographer as a standalone station
