The ZEISS Visulas 532s laser is a 532 nm ophthalmic photocoagulation system built for retinal laser therapy. It uses a frequency-doubled, diode-pumped solid-state source and delivers the treatment beam through an integrated laser slit lamp, so the physician can visualize and precisely target the treatment area under direct view.
This Zeiss Visulas 532s laser provides an adjustable treatment spot from 50 to 1,000 µm without a contact lens, with larger spots available depending on the contact lens used. The integrated slit lamp offers five magnification steps from 5× to 32×, while the servo-electric micromanipulator supports precise, synchronous positioning of the laser beam and slit illumination. Pulse durations are adjustable from 10 to 2,500 ms in continuous-wave mode, with a maximum power of 1.5 W at the cornea.
The 532 nm green wavelength is well absorbed by hemoglobin and the retinal pigment epithelium, which is why it is a long-standing workhorse for retinal photocoagulation.
