Used Sonomed E-Z Scan AB5500+ Scan Ophthalmic Ultrasound Scanner
The Sonomed E-Z Scan AB5500+ is a portable, combined A-scan and B-scan ophthalmic ultrasound system built on over 30 years of Sonomed Escalon leadership in ophthalmic biometry. The 6.5″ color touch screen provides full alphanumeric data entry and image display in a compact 5.25 lb unit with adjustable legs that tilt from 0° to 60° for tabletop or slit-lamp-mounted workflows.
The A-scan delivers axial length measurements at electronic accuracy of ±0.023mm, with zone velocity gating for ACD, lens thickness, and vitreous chamber. Six built-in IOL power formulas — Holladay, Regression-II, Theoretic, Binkhorst, Hoffer-Q, and Haigis — cover the full range of surgical planning needs including cataract, dense cataract, aphakic, and pseudophakic eyes. Automatic calibration is performed via the built-in cylinder with no separate tools required.
The B-scan delivers 30 frames per second at 0.15mm tissue resolution with 100 dB logarithmic/linear/S-curve gain control and continuous zoom from 0.5× to 2.0× with joystick-controlled pan. RS-170 BNC output supports connection to a video printer or remote display. The unit is compatible with both contact and immersion probe techniques and accepts the included A & B probe for both modalities from a single instrument.
