Zeiss IOLMaster 500 — Used Optical Biometer
The Zeiss IOLMaster 500 is the long-standing gold standard in optical biometry, with more than 100 million IOL power calculations performed worldwide on ZEISS IOLMaster devices. It measures four key biometric parameters — axial length, corneal radii, anterior chamber depth, and white-to-white — and is the only optical biometer to use distance-independent telecentric keratometry, which delivers robust, repeatable K readings with excellent agreement to manual keratometry.
An automated Dual Mode captures axial length and keratometry without manual interaction, letting you measure both eyes in under 60 seconds. Integrated plausibility checks and a traffic-light indicator reduce common measurement errors even in challenging eyes — dense cataracts (more than 93% penetration rate), staphyloma, pseudophakic, and silicone-filled eyes. A built-in keyboard, joystick, and integrated printer support a complete chairside workflow, with ZEISS FORUM, CALLISTO eye, ultrasound, and EMR/PMS connectivity over Ethernet and USB.
The National Library of Medicine documents that the ZEISS IOLMaster-500 delivers intraocular lens power prediction accuracy on par with other modern optical biometers in cataract surgical planning.
