Top questions
Does it do OCTA and epithelial thickness mapping?
It does OCT angiography and ships with the CAM-L lens the Avanti uses for ETM. A team member is confirming that ETM is active on this unit.
What's included?
The AngioVue OCTA system, electric table, CAM-L lens, power cable and dust cover.
Does it need dye?
No. OCT angiography maps retinal and choroidal blood flow without fluorescein or ICG injection.
Which software version does it run?
A team member will confirm the software version and active modules on this unit.

Optovue AngioVue OCTA Imaging System — Used OCT Angiography Platform

Optovue AngioVue OCTA used — complete imaging system on electric table The Optovue AngioVue is a spectral-domain OCT platform that adds OCT angiography (OCTA) to structural retinal and optic nerve imaging. The Optovue AngioVue visualizes retinal and choroidal blood flow without intravenous dye, giving practices a fast, noninvasive way to map the microvasculature during the same visit as a standard OCT scan.

AngioVue runs on the Optovue Avanti SD-OCT engine: an 840 nm light source scanning at 70,000 A-scans per second with roughly 5 µm axial resolution in tissue. Flow is extracted with the Split-Spectrum Amplitude-Decorrelation Angiography (SSADA) algorithm, which acquires a 304 × 304 OCTA volume in about three seconds. This used Optovue AngioVue ships with its electric table, CAM-L lens, power cable, and dust cover.

The National Library of Medicine indexes the original peer-reviewed description of SSADA, the method this platform uses to detect retinal blood flow with OCT angiography.

Why Practices Choose the Optovue AngioVue

Optovue AngioVue OCTA used — angiography and structural OCT scans on screen

  • Dye-free angiography — visualizes retinal capillary networks and choroidal vessels without fluorescein or ICG injection.
  • 70,000 A-scans per second — fast acquisition keeps OCTA volumes short and reduces motion artifacts.
  • SSADA flow detection — split-spectrum processing improves the signal-to-noise ratio of flow maps.
  • Structure plus flow in one exam — cross-sectional B-scans and en face vascular maps from the same scan.
  • Retina and optic disc protocols — macular OCTA scans of 3 × 3, 6 × 6 and 8 × 8 mm plus optic nerve head angiography, depending on configuration.
  • Anterior imaging lens included — the CAM-L lens ships with the system, which is supplied on its electric table.

Clinical Applications

  • Diabetic retinopathy — capillary dropout, foveal avascular zone enlargement and neovascularization.
  • Age-related macular degeneration — detection and follow-up of choroidal neovascularization.
  • Retinal vein occlusion — mapping of non-perfused areas and collateral vessels.
  • Glaucoma — evaluation of optic nerve head and peripapillary vessel density alongside structural OCT.
  • Macular disease — structural OCT of the retinal layers with matching vascular maps.
  • Longitudinal monitoring — repeat structural and OCTA scans across visits.

Who This Is For

  • Retina specialists who need dye-free vascular imaging in clinic.
  • General ophthalmology practices adding OCT angiography to structural OCT.
  • Glaucoma practices assessing optic nerve head perfusion.
  • Multispecialty eye clinics and research centers studying retinal microvasculature.
